After way too many years in the sharp end of clubland, author James now leads a quiet life in the charming historic town of Tavira on Portugal's beautiful Algarve coast.

He spends most of his free time chatting away merrily to his "little fwiends" at the bottom of the garden .

On his more sociable occasions he can be seen drinking cheap sherry from a discreet brown paper bag while sitting on a park bench healthily debating the important issues of the day with his loyal inner circle of blaggards, wasters, n'er do wells and assorted looney toons.

For exercise, James loves nothing more than an impromptu spot of skinny dipping in the relaxing azure water of the moat surrounding the bandstand in the lush gardens of central Tavira, performing balletically in the company of the resident family of European Semi-Aquatic Terrapins...

While occasionally he can be seen dining out on the day's catch (Menu del Dia ) in the appealing destination venue for alfresco dining that is the open-air corporation landfill site located an appetite enhancing 'hop, skip and a jump' from the eco-pride of The Algarve - the Ria Formosa Natural Park.

The fresh fish is flappingly fresh - and a must for even the most discerning of diners.

A thousand Flamingos can not be wrong.

Author James muses... "I live in the hope that Tavira has done for me what Havana did for Hemingway"
